FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nicolaysen’s Art Curator to Judge Deer Creek Days Art Show
July 21, 2016
The Deer Creek Days Art Show committee is excited to announce this year’s art show judge is Eric Wimmer of the Nicolaysen Art Museum in Casper. Its first year housed in the new Glenrock library building, the DCD Art Show has attracted a number of new artists of all ages. Wimmer’s professional and personal experience combined with his art education will all come into play when judging this kaleidoscope of local color.
A practicing multi-media artist and trained curator, Eric Wimmer grew up in New Mexico and has lived in the west for many years. After studying photography at New Mexico University, Wimmer received his BA from the University of Montana and his MA from the School of Art and Art History at the University of Denver. Wimmer enjoys all mediums of art but works primarily in photography, painting, collage, print making, video installation and film.
Wimmer’s work has been exhibited throughout the Rocky Mountain region over the past 20 years including several solo, two person and group exhibitions. Wimmer’s work can be found in private and public collections throughout the United States and internationally including Japan, China, Australia, Norway and England. Before becoming the curator of the Nic in 2013, Wimmer spent four years as the curator of the Wyoming Veteran’s Memorial Museum.
With entries from Glenrock, Casper, Douglas and Evansville, this year’s show boasts over 100 entries (up 40 percent from last year) and has been on display at the Glenrock library since July 9. The earlier deadline this year was to allow more time for the community to enjoy the varied creative talents of our local artists. The show will run through Deer Creek Days weekend with an evening reception held immediately after judging on Friday August 5 at 6 P.M. at the library. The reception will be attended by Eric Wimmer and is open to the public. All art show entrants are encouraged to attend.
